Minister seeks improved education sector
In a bid to improve the education sector, the Education Minister, Prof Tahir Mamman, highlighted the need for better quality of teachers, infrastructural development, and increased access to education for vulnerable individuals. The Minister, along with the Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu, commended President Bola Tinubu for proposing a double-digit 2024 budget for the Education sector, emphasizing the significance of this development in underscoring the value placed on the education sector by the President.


During a two-day Retreat for education stakeholders in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State, the ministers voiced their views on the state of the education sector. Mamman recognized the unified effort of the Presidency and the National Assembly in addressing the country’s challenges, expressing confidence in the administration’s resolve.


Mamman acknowledged previous administrations’ efforts in education sector development while stressing the need for further improvements in infrastructure, teacher quality, institutional security, and access to quality education, particularly for vulnerable groups. He urged Heads of Parastatals and Agencies to collaboratively enhance the quality of education delivery at all levels for the country’s benefit, emphasizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the sector in the 2024 budget.


Mamman also urged State Governors to work in partnership with the Federal government to achieve a vibrant, functional, and self-sustaining education sector for the country.
